Forestry Commission of Ghana

The Forestry Commission of Ghana is the government agency responsible for regulating the utilization of forest and wildlife resources, managing protected areas, and coordinating forest and wildlife policies. It operates under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. The Commission works to ensure the conservation and sustainable management of Ghana’s forests and wildlife for environmental stability, economic development, and community benefit.

Resource Management Support Centre (RMSC)

The Resource Management Support Centre (RMSC) is the technical wing of the Forestry Commission. It provides professional and scientific support for forest management across the country. The RMSC develops and maintains forest inventory systems, monitors resource conditions, and guides district forest offices in sustainable forest operations. It also conducts research, data analysis, and training to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of forest management in Ghana.

My Experience

During my time at the Forestry Commission and RMSC, I participated in national reforestation and afforestation projects. I collected and analyzed forest inventory data using GPS, ArcGIS Pro, Excel and SPSS and assisted in preparing technical reports for forest resource management. This experience strengthened my skills in GIS mapping, forest monitoring, and sustainable forestry practices.
